Do Me a Favor

team

Every time my high school basketball team entered the gym–whether it be for routine practices or big game nights; whether it be for pre-game warmups or post-halftime shakedowns–we practiced a very specific tradition.

Every single girl jumped up and slapped a banner that hung on the wall above the entryway.

It read: It’s amazing what a group of people can accomplish when no one cares who gets the credit.

And slapping that statement was both a reminder and a commitment to BE the team that lived by that philosophy.

I’ve often thought since then that it might not be a bad thing if that banner–or at least it’s metaphorical equivalent–was hanging over entryways to church auditoriums….entryways to the mainstage at high powered Christian events…maybe even entryways to the bedrooms where we lie awake at night to sort out our souls before God.

Since I can’t make that happen though, I’ll just put out this ask: People of faith, will you do me a favor and, somehow, in your own way, slap that statement today? Will you strike a reminder in your own hearts to live teamed in that philosophy?
