Movie Lover’s Paradise: Story Conference
Movie Loving at Story Chicago
The STORY conference has always been a place where creative people find their sweet spot. We’ve got nothing but love for performers, artists, writers, designers, authors…the entire creative tribe.
But just a heads up: movie lovers are going to be especially at home at this year’s event.
For starters, on September 1st, STORY will launch a new website and venture that shoot straight to the movie lover’s heart (stay tuned!). We’ll be formally presenting the project (and how you might fit in), along with some related panels, at this year’s conference.
(You’ll. want. to. be. there. for. that. alone.)
But new project aside, here’s some other film-lover’s candy you’ll find at STORY this year:
- Hollywood producer Ed Saxon, responsible for Philadelphia, That Thing You Do, and Silence of the Lambs (to name a few) will be presenting on the main stage.
- Kyle Cooper, a title sequence designer with over 150 movies under his belt (like, ever heard of Braveheart, Spiderman, Seven?) will be presenting on the main stage.
- Super-8 filmmaker and music video director Nathan Corrona of Dustbrand Films will be interviewed on stage.
- New York Times’ best-selling author, Ted Dekker, who wrote the film Thr3e will be presenting in a festival environment.
- STORY’s short film, Among Us, made by Jared Hogan will debut to a live score played by All the Bright Lights. (Here’s some candid shots from the set to tide you over until then).
- Santino Stoner, director of the Nooma videos, will be presenting on the main stage.
- David Wenzel of Dot & Cross will be emceeing.
- Actress Naima Lett (think Benjamin Button, Leaves of Grass, Prison Break) will be telling her story in a festival environment.
There’s one more surprise movie name we’ll drop into the mix in the next couple weeks. But until then, know this, it’s not just a film person’s party. There are some great spiritual leaders, sage personalities and innovative marketplace thinkers taking the stage as well. (You can check out the non-movie related speakers here too.)
But if you love movies and you’ve been thinking one-of-these-years-I’ve-gotta-get-to-STORY, I’m telling you — THIS IS YOUR YEAR.
One last word to the wise: The event sold out in 2010, so be sure to get your tickets sooner than later (and come with friends to get $50 off via a group discount).
You can book your tickets here.
