An Invitation to the Arena (An Offering of the STORY Conference)
Our One Thousand Premieres project, released to the press during STORY, is our most ambitious project yet.
It asks others to help us bring the Biblical story of David and Goliath to life in a full length feature film.
But it’s a little trickier than just asking people to believe in the idea.
One thousand people saying “Yes! Film is a great way to impact the world with our faith stories” will never get the epic story of David to movie screens around the world.
We need people to believe in that bigger, deeper way. By fronting some money (donations between $99 -$999) to show the film in their communities in order to help fund the project.
So asking for support, then, means asking for money, which is not typically a task people–including myself–enjoy.
But, in this case, I am happy to solicit support because I am absolutely convinced that there are some noble ambitions in life worthy of pushing beyond discomfort and social barriers.
And because I believe to lead in a great vision, you must not ever allow your role to be reduced to a glorified salesperson. When God stirs something inside you, making a vision burn white hot in your soul, I don’t believe you should ever let it be categorized with door to door cookie sales or knife sets you an buy on installment plan.
What you’re doing is not pitching a product, but inviting people to join you in the extraordinary.
This is what compels me to go after One Thousand Premieres.
In life, I am determined (as Roosevelt said) to be among those striving after great ambition–tired, bloody, sweaty and maybe even sometimes criticized–rather than to be among the spectators lining the arena to watch the action from a safe distance without ever daring to try to do something great.
I pray you’ll join us in the arena on this project.
