We Will Not Apologize (Thoughts from the STORY Conference Project)

A couple weeks ago, as we launched One Thousand Premieres, STORY’s founder Ben Arment issued a challenge. Will you find 10 people willing to donate $10 each to help make the story of David and Goliath into a full length feature film?

He was calling people to work together to sponsor $99 living room premieres, where they would share this epic faith story with up to 14 people in their homes.

But here’s the thing: Ben, Director Santino Stoner and I also believe that God intends to bring this project to venues much larger than living rooms.

And that maybe the ten people who will help launch this project into reality will bring a lot more than $99 to the table.

Somewhere there are ten people who have earned great financial favor and who are looking for significant ways to leave a legacy of faith for future generations.

Somewhere, although it boggles many of our minds, there are ten people who can write a check for $100,000 each because they believe in speaking faith to the world via the language of film.

Those ten people could single-handedly sponsor 100 premieres to gift this Biblical story to 100 of the the world’s most at-risk communities.

Whether it’s $10 or $10 million dollars, we are so convinced of how God is moving in this project, that we will not apologize for investing every cent possible–in any amount–to bring this ancient story to a new generation.

The resources to gift the Biblical telling of David and Goliath to our world already exist.

You may have some of them or you may know someone who does. Now, those existing resources just must be channeled–in small and large quantities–through the hands of people who believe.

You can find more information on how to sponsor premieres here.

Or, if you have connections to groups that might provide financial resources to sponsor multiple screenings for communities in need, please email me at sarah (at) storychicago (dot) com.
