Picnic Tables
When I was younger (I’d like to say it was when I was 12, but *blush* it was more like 21), my friends Jennie and Bethany and I were hanging out at a community park.
For a good long while, we strolled around, more absorbed in our comraderie than the scenic backdrop of the park. Eventually, as was and is still the norm, all the pacing around and plotting solutions to the world’s social evils drained our energy.
So we began moving toward this lone picnic table on the other side of the park to sit and rest a while.
I reached the table first and was instantly dissatisfied.
Shaking my head, I gestured at the surroundings. “It’s too close to this tree. There are too many bugs.” I declared.
This is the point where I began wandering to my left, visually scanning the park for a better choice of seating. After a quick glance one direction, I turned my attention to another part of the park–determined to find another picnic table.
Nothing.
So I turned around and went back to my starting spot where Jennie and Bethany had since moved the picnic table out from under the tree into a non-bug-infested clearing.
Who knew picnic tables were portable??
All of this to say, having a second or third or even a dozen extra sets of eyes in our lives can save us a lot of time and energy wasted on searching for unneeded picnic tables.
Who in your life can you (or should you) count on to help keep an eye on your life?
