How to Bake Angry Bird Cupcakes That Could Smash Any Pig
Our days, as of late, have been angry bird themed. Not by design, but due to the Emperor’s latest obsession. This morning, as chief servant to said emperor, I had little choice but to comply with his decree to make angry bird cupcakes. I’ll spare you my sob story.;)
How to Make Angry Bird Cupcakes On the Fly: Recipes from the Emperor
Ingredients:
- Cake mix
- Cupcake tin
- Assorted colors of frosting (or butter, milk, salt, imitation vanilla, powdered sugar and food coloring to make your own)
- Sprinkles in corresponding colors (optional)
- Something to serve as eyes (we used white frosting, but mini-marshmallows cut in half would be even better)
- Chocolate chips for pupils and pig nostrils
- Something to serve as a beak (we used corn pops, but other options would be fruit roll ups or airheads cut in triangles)
- Regular sized marshallows for the birds’ white chests
- Something to make angry eyebrows (we used hot fudge but you might consider chocolate Twizzler pull and peels)
- Something to serve as pig ears (we used green Runt candies, but you could use M&Ms, jelly beans, Skittles etc.)
Instructions:
- Bake cupcakes according to box instructions or recipe, if from scratch.
- Make frosting or, if store bought, open it up and get it ready.
- Once cool, frost cupcakes, alternating colors. We used just green and red, but birds also commonly come in yellow and blue.
- Dip cupcakes in the matching color of sprinkles.
To assemble pigs:
- Cut a marshmallow in half and stick it to the cupcake top with frosting, then frost over it.
- Stick two chocolate chip nostrils on using frosting.
- Add frosting or marshmallow eyes, then stick chocolate chip pupils on with frosting.
- Use frosting to attach ears.
- Keep in mind, if you want to get creative, you could add mustaches or crowns for some pigs too.
To assemble birds:
- Add frosting or marshmallow eyes, then stick chocolate chip pupils on with frosting.
- Stick candy or cereal beak on with frosting.
- Stick marshmallow-half on for white chest.
