Follow the Donkey’s Trail

PLEASE NOTE: Although this began as a simple self-publishing title, a new, fully illustrated and more widely distributed version of this book will soon be available through B&H Kids. Although the actual paper books won’t be released until 2014, during this 2013 holiday season, B&H Kids will unveil the e-book which you can buy here.

Donkey In the Living Room Updates

Many of you have gone out of your way to offer support for my simple children’s book that introduces a new manger scene tradition for children, The Donkey in the Living Room.

I want to thank you.

Since the holidays are so saturated with commercial Christmas and santa-mania, it makes it especially difficult to spread the word about a Jesus-centered Christmas tradition, so your help makes a significant difference. There are more ideas for helping below.

The good news is the Donkey has been making his rounds and getting to know more and more people too so hopefully together we can inspire new family traditions in many, many homes (also, read where the Donkey’s been below).

The Donkey Has Been Making His Rounds

Among other places, he’s appeared:

  • For 33 children who are part of the Urban Mentors Network in Oakland, CA
  • On WDIV Detroit News’ Sunday Morning TV news show (See that here)
  • In this You Tube video, where I read a sample story.
  • On Bellafind, a members-only website that reviews best products for babies and children. (That’d be here.)
  • In The Toy Book, the leading trade magazine for the toy industry. (Over here.)
  • On his own Facebook page (Come like the Donkey!)
  • On several Amazon best-seller and hot new release lists, including Children’s Non-Fiction,Children’s Non-fiction Religion, Children’s Christianity, Children’s Religion, Christian Holiday, Children and Teen Christmas BooksHot New Releases in Christmas, Children’s Christmas Books, Children’s Holiday and Festival Books, Bestsellers in Children’s Nonfiction Book.

How to Help

  • Give the book to families you know would enjoy the tradition (grandchildren, nephews and nieces, etc.). You can get 4 copies, shipped free, right now for $29.98.
  • If you think some of your friends with kids or grandkids would be interested in this tradition, share the point of the book (introducing a manger-scene tradition for children) on your blog, Facebook, Twitter or other social networks and link to this blog post, the Detroit WDIV video or the You Tube video–whatever you think your friends might find most helpful.
  • If you have an Amazon account, leave a review encouraging users to keep the real meaning of Christmas in mind as they do their shopping.
