BLAINE HOGAN: The Man Who Forgot to Title His Book

How to start a book, how to make a book, writing tips, writing how to, i like to write, i love to write, daily writing tips, i write what i like, how to write well,

An interview with Blaine Hogan

It is the artist’s job to accept that the work will be very, very hard; to understand the importance of deep reflection, and to fight the forces of fear and resistance, all in the name of filling blank pages and creating beauty.

This is Blaine Hogan’s manifesto. And he hopes it will be yours as well.

And no, someone eloquent enough to put that italicized phrasing together didn’t forget to title his book.

The book is called Untitled because it’s about the thrill and duty of filling in the blank page.

Blaine is a creative practitioner with the chops to act, write, direct, produce and/or stage design and this book is your fly-on-the-wall-opportunity to follow his mind through the creative process.

And for my fellow STORY creatives, yes this Blaine is THE Blaine from this **significant moment** below.

*Special Note: Have you been trying to start writing a book? Here’s something free to help you get on your way!*

You can pick the book up here.

Or, if you’re in the mood for free (is there ever an if?), leave a comment on this post (click “comments” by the title) and you’ll be entered for a chance to win Blaine’s book plus four custom posters inspired by it. (Seen below.)

That excerpt alone has me sold. :) on my reading list!
Sort of reminds me of the premise behind Stephen Pressfield’s “The War of Art.” it’s a good, quick read, but very profound.

I’m liable to start performing street art if I read this book. Chances are even higher if I refer to it as a manifesto. Now, if only I could make it rain…..on a stage. Rawr away!

Here is my witty comment, cleverly spun to reduce my shameful, opportunistic gamble to win a free book because I’m too cheap to go out and buy it. :)

Just found your site via your guest post on Donald Miller’s site. It looks extremely helpful!

Yes, please. I have page after blank page staring at me. The book/posters might just help me hold their gaze.

Thanks for the blog post! I’m a creative professional for a local church and have been following Blaine for a while. It’s great to see someone in the church who overflows creativity like this. Hopefully I can snag a copy of this book for my team and maybe even shake up our thought processes in a big way. :)

    Thanks again, Sarah!
